Porsche At Prescott Hill Climb

Next month sees a brand-new event taking place at Prescott Hill Climb, which is the home of the Bugatti Owners’ Club and is one of the oldest hillclimbs in the world. Prescott is also regarded as one of the most prestigious British motoring venues.

On Saturday 22nd June 2019, as part of the Porsche Club National Hillclimb Championship, 35 Porsches will compete at the UK’s most famous hillclimb course. It will include two previous Porsche Hillclimb champions plus an array of air-cooled classic Porsches, right up to some of the latest mid-engine models.

This new event in the racing calendar has been proposed by competitors in the Porsche Hillclimb Championship and is being supported by the Bugatti Owners Club, Porsche Centre Tewkesbury and Porsche Club GB.

If you plan on coming along to what promises to be an exciting day of racing, you will get the opportunity to see a fantastic display of beautifully turned out Porsches, including the iconic 956/007 Group C sports-prototype racing car designed by Norbert Singer and built by Porsche in 1982 for the FIA World Sportscar Championship, which was raced by Derek Bell and Stefan Bellof.

In fact Stefan Bellof set the fastest record at the Nürburgring (12.93 miles) in 6:11 during the qualifying of the 1000 km Sports Car race back in 1983, a record which stood for an impressive 35 years!

There will also be the chance to get a glimpse of the 1973 Porsche 911 2.8 RSR previously owned by ex-world rally champion and racer Bjorn Waldegard. It is one of only 55 factory race cars produced and has a long and impressive race history. There is also the 2009 Porsche 997 4.0 RSR, being one of just 20 cars built. This particular car has competed five times at Le Mans, and in 29 FIA World Endurance (WEC) races.

The Orchard zone will be showcasing a large gathering of high-performance Porsche sports cars, SUVs and sedans from all eras of the German manufacturer’s history. And as well as Championship and invitational Classes for Porsches, this special day in the calendar will see the return of the MAC Sunrise, SBD/HSA Speed, Midland Speed Championships along with a round of the Prescott New Barn ‘B’ Licence Roadgoing Championship which is sure to delight spectators and participants alike.
