Aston Martin to Adopt Pirelli Cyber Tyre Technology

British luxury sportscar manufacturer Aston Martin and Pirelli have announced that the two companies are to collaborate on the integration of Pirelli’s exclusive Cyber Tyre technology into the British brand’s future new vehicles.

Cyber Tyre is the first intelligent system in the world to be able to collect data and information from sensors located directly in the tyres themselves and in so doing, leveraging both the hardware and Pirelli’s proprietary software data to optimise driving and vehicle performance, enabled by Pirelli’s bespoke algorithms. The system is able to communicate with the vehicle’s electronics to create new functionalities integrated within the driving and control systems in real time to giving the driver the ability to push their car to their limits in safety.

Working with Bosch Engineering, Cyber Tyre will be fully integrated within the electronic architecture that governs the vehicle’s dynamics in future Aston Martin models, directly talking to the car and constantly sharing updates about the tyres to the driver.

The way it works is as follows. Pirelli Cyber Tyre technology enables the car to gather crucial information from the tyres via sensors positioned in the inner part of the tread. This information is then processed by Pirelli’s algorithms and is transmitted to an electronic control unit which optimises the car’s dynamics.

This means that the main electronic dynamic driving systems performance that include the ESP, ABS and traction control, are all enhanced by a comprehensive set of tyre data in a way that has not been possible until now.

The addition of Pirelli’s Cyber Tyre system will enable Aston Martin to create and develop top of the range luxury sports cars with class leading performance.

All of these new Cyber Tyres can be easily identified by the ‘C’ marking on the sidewalls. For more information on Pirelli’s Cyber Tyre technology, please visit: www.pirelli.com.
