At just shy of £90,000, well £89,999 to be exact, the new Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is actually very good value for money when you look at what you get. This supercharged V8 powered American 4×4 will take you from 0 to 62mph in a blistering fast 3.7 seconds! Yes, you read that correctly.
Putting this into perspective, the cost per horsepower (£/hp) is approximately £127. Compare that with £257 for the Lamborghini Urus and £296 for the Bentley Bentayga, and the Trackhawk looks like a steal.
The Jeep’s supercharged 6.2-litre V8 engine delivers 710hp (522kW) at 6,000rpm and 868 Nm of torque. This is combined with an upgraded high-torque capacity TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission to give it that astonishing 3.7 seconds to reach 62mph and a top speed of 180mph. This staggering performance is matched with an equally impressive 62 to 0 mph braking distance of just 37 metres thanks to its new Brembo braking system.
The outstanding road handling of the Trackhawk is down to the Selec-Trac system with five dynamic modes and Bilstein active damping suspension and it is shod with new 20-inch titanium finish wheels that reveal those rather distinctive yellow Brembo brake calipers showing that this vehicle means business.
The aggressive looking exterior of the new Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk makes this look a serious vehicle too, with its sculpted bonnet and vents, flared wheel arches and quad exhaust tips. And whilst the front of the car may be slightly intimidating in your rear-view mirror, it is in fact practical with bi-xenon headlamps surrounded by an LED character lamps.
Turning to the sports inspired interior of the Trackhawk, expect a high level of comfort with soft-touch crafted materials and carbon fibre inserts that exude quality. The UK spec gets Laguna leather seats and metal accents. There is Active Noise Cancellation and an 825-watt Harman Kardon sound system with 19 speakers including subwoofers as standard.
The sporty dashboard features a 7-inch driver information display and an instrument cluster which features the tachometer in the centre and the 200mph speedometer on the left. The instrument panel centre stack comes with a new 8.4-inch Uconnect™ display featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as Trackhawk-exclusive Performance Pages that showcase immediate feedback on the car’s performance.
When it comes to safety, the new Trackhawk offers over 65 safety and security features, which includes a Trailer Hitch Camera View at Speed, giving the driver a view of trailered items through the rear-mounted camera whilst on the move. The sophisticated Adaptive Cruise Control comes with with stop function, Advanced Brake Assist, Blind-spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Path Detection, Full-speed Forward Collision Warning with Crash Mitigation, Parallel and Perpendicular Park Assist and Lane Departure Warning-Plus and Ready Alert Braking.
Whilst the high spec and raw power of the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk may make you think twice about that new 4×4 purchase, unfortunately only 20 Trackhawks will be available in the UK this year, so you may have to wait a while to get your hands on one.
Andrew Tracey, Marketing Director for Jeep UK say s that “There won’t be many of these incredible Grand Cherokee Trackhawks available in the UK so, just like the car, customers are going to have to be quick.”
“The Trackhawk delivers astounding performance, through renowned SRT engineering. Combining world-class on-road driving dynamics with luxury, refinement and an array of innovative advanced technology, it is surely the best value high performance SUV on the road.”
