If you are hankering for a performance car brimming with technology but coupled with a touch of luxury, then Audi have the answer with the launch of their expanded new Black Edition and Vorsprung range.
New Black Edition specification models you can choose from include the Audi Q2, A5 Coupé and Sportback and the Audi Q5. If that’s still not enough, then an even more comprehensive and luxurious Vorsprung specification is also available for the A5 Sportback, Coupé and Cabriolet models, as well as for the Audi Q5 and A7 Sportback, which adds numerous technology upgrades and luxury indulgences.
All Black Edition models are built on the S line sports specification, which includes larger wheels, matt or gloss black detailing and privacy glass as standard.
Black edition Q2, Q5, Coupé and Sportback versions of the A5 get larger 19 or 20-inch alloy wheels painted gloss black, along with a black styling pack which adds a Matt Titanium Black or Gloss Titanium Black finish to components such as the grille surround, air inlets, rear diffuser and door mirror housings. You also get darkened rear privacy glass. Inside the car you will find decorative inlays with the same darkening treatment and the addition of a flat-bottomed multi-function steering wheel to emphasise the sporting pedigree of these cars.
Vorsprung versions of the popular Coupé, Sportback, Cabriolet and mid-size SUV models give you even more equipment, such as an upgrade to 20, 21 or 22-inch alloy wheels in either matt grey or matt titanium, plus advanced Matrix LED headlights which can divert their beams around oncoming and leading traffic, which is pretty nifty.
All these new models also come packed with technology such as adaptive comfort suspension with damper control to optimise ride and handling on the A5, A7 Sportback and Q5 Vorsprung models, while the Q7 Vorsprung and Q8 Vorsprung get adaptive air suspension from the S line models on which they are based.
The cars also get everything from Park Assist with its fully ‘hands-free’ parallel and perpendicular parking capability, to side assist, active lane assist, turn assist and cross traffic assist rear, adding a further layer of protection and control during everything from lane-change manoeuvres to reversing out of poor visibility parking spaces.
There are still more gizmos to play with in these cars, such as a panoramic glass sunroof, BOSE or Bang & Olufsen audio systems, depending on the model you choose, and sensor-controlled boot opening enabling access using a simple kicking motion under the rear bumper.
Depending on which model you choose, the Vorsprung specification can also add luxury detail enhancements such as an extended leather pack, Alcantara headlining, power door closure and rear seat heating.
These new Black Edition models form part of what is becoming a growing and popular Black Edition line-up for Audi, that already includes all the A3 and S3 variants, the A4 Saloon and Avant as well as the TT and TTS Coupé and Roadster models.
Prices in the UK for the Black Edition range start at £26,845 for the A3 Sportback 30 TFSI Black Edition and go up to £67,295 OTR for the Q7 50 TDI quattro Black Edition. The Vorsprung range starts at £48,875 for the A5 Sportback 35 TFSI Vorsprung, whilst the Q8 50 TDI quattro Vorsprung comes in at £83,040.
