Halfords Yuasa Racing 2019 BTCC Honda Civic Type R

The 2019 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season gets under way over a two-day event at my local circuit, Brands Hatch, starting with a day of testing on 27th March.

30 BTCC cars will be taking part in this two-day extravaganza on the circuit’s smaller Indy Circuit with admission being completely free of charge for motoring enthusiasts and fans.  And you will even be able to have a Pit Lane Walkabout at lunchtime and have a better look at the cars themselves.

One of the first cars to be unveiled for this year’s British Touring Car Championship is the Halfords Yuasa Racing Honda Civic Type R with its eye-catching new livery.

Last year, drivers Matt Neal and Dan Cammish both took a pair of wins with Honda finishing runner-up in the manufacturers championship while Halfords Yuasa Racing finished second in the teams’ championship.  It’s therefore hoped that this new 2019 car will build on the success of last year’s Civic Type R FK8.

Team Dynamics Motorsport, who runs the Halfords Yuasa Racing team, have been working hard during the winter months to try to develop the Civic Type R even further, as it will no doubt come up against even fiercer opposition in this new 2019 BTCC season.

Honda’s UK Managing Director, Dave Hodgetts says that “If the Civic Type R BTCC car goes as good as it looks, then we will be confident of strong results this season.  After intensive winter development by Team Dynamics, and with our highly talented pairing of Matt Neal and Dan Cammish driving the cars, we are eagerly counting the days to the first race at Brands Hatch on 7th April.”

Both Matt Neal and Dan Cammish love the new livery and are extremely happy with the end result, with Halfords Yuasa Racing Team Manager, James Rodgers saying that “The whole team have worked really hard over the winter to improve on the package that we had in 2018 and this is just exemplified by the new livery, it differentiates us from the crowd and combined with our technical changes should make for a competitive package in 2019.”

The opening race and first three rounds of the season takes place at Brands Hatch on the weekend of 6th and 7th April 2019.

Tickets for the opening round of the BTCC cost £28 for adults with children aged 13 and under getting free entrance. Please visit the Brands Hatch website for more information and to book tickets.
