The limited model Volkswagen Arteon R-Line Edition went on sale here in the UK yesterday with deliveries expected as soon as next month. This well-equipped high-powered car is available from £36,850 on the road for the 2.0 TSI 190 PS version and is limited to a production run of only 1,000 cars, with just 370 of them earmarked for the UK market, making it pretty exclusive.
Whilst the existing Arteon R-Line is already extremely well equipped, this special version also gets keyless entry and a helpful top-down camera system Area View, as well as driver assistance systems that include Side Assist Plus with rear traffic alert and Park Assist for added ease of use and safety.
The car comes fitted with Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) adding adaptive dampers with selectable and customisable driving modes. This particular model is identifiable by the attractive 20-inch ‘Rosario Black’ alloy wheels and is exclusively available in Moonstone Grey, with a contrasting black roof and door mirror housings.
Interior standard equipment includes Volkswagen’s acclaimed customisable Active Info Display, a 9.2-inch Discover Navigation Pro infotainment system, the R-Line styling pack and a luxurious Nappa leather interior. On the exterior, the Arteon R-Line is equipped with attractively designed and versatile dual LED headlights, which come with a self-levelling function, dynamic light assist, which is a system to adapt the main beam to avoid dazzling other road users while maintaining the optimum illumination, and predictive cornering lights, as well as a natty little poor weather mode, which ensures the driver has optimum visibility in situations where visibility may be impaired by poor environmental conditions.
The Arteon R-Line Edition represents extremely good value when you take into consideration all the extra equipment and goodies you get. In fact, if you were to specify all this additional equipment on an Arteon R-Line, it would cost you and extra £4,755. However, on the Arteon R-Line Edition it is only an additional £845.
Lisa Hartley, who is Arteon Product Manager at Volkswagen UK, said: “The Arteon R-Line Edition adds even more intelligence, power and exclusivity on top of that already offered in the Arteon, while also further enhancing the car’s striking design and innate quality.
“The Arteon’s premium appeal is undeniable, even in its standard SE, Elegance and R-Line specifications, but the R-Line Edition takes this to another level, with sophisticated and powerful engines, a host of comfort and convenience features, a full suite of driver assistance systems, and an assertive yet luxurious look.”
As well as the entry level 2.0 TSI 190 PS engine, there is one other petrol and three diesel variants to choose from with the 2.0 TSI 272 PS 4MOTION costing £42,120. The 2.0 TDI 190 PS costs £39,540, whilst the 2.0 TDI 190 PS 4MOTION costs £41,070. The more powerful 2.0 BiTDI 240 PS 4MOTION is priced at £43,360.
