Renault has introduced several innovative features to their new flagship Megane E-Tech 100% electric that includes new top-of-the-range Iconic trim and heat pump for increased efficiency.
The specification of the limited version Launch Edition, also includes an extended choice of colour palette, while the inclusion of the heat pump is in response to customer demand and will no doubt increase the crossover’s residual value as well as its usability.
The heat pump system works by recovering heat generated by the battery and the electric motor twice as efficiently, ensuring an optimal temperature for the cabin but also minimising the impact this has on range. If the outside temperature drops below 10°C, the range of the Megane E-Tech can increase by up to 9 percent on motorways, while still maintaining a comfortable temperature inside the car.
In addition, heat pump technology helps to naturally lower the temperature of both the battery and the car’s electric motor and takes two times less energy to heat the cabin than a traditional heat pump. Heat recovery is captured by a circuit of pipes that runs through the entire battery and motor. The pipes cleverly convert the recovered heat to warm the car’s interior and optimise the vehicle’s range.
The all new Megane E-Tech electric is the first of a new generation of electric vehicles built on the advanced CMF-EV platform and the first model to wear the new ‘Nouvel’R’ logo. The Megane E-Tech can achieve an impressive driving range of up to 280 miles (WLTP), and 186 miles can be regained in 30 minutes by using a DC fast charger 130 kW. The 160 kW (220 hp) motor will whisk the car from 0-62 mph in just 7.5 seconds.
The car is fitted with a class-leading digital 12.3-inch dashboard display, 9-inch multimedia display and Android Automotive OS with integrated Google services from the Techno trim.
By choosing the Iconic specification you have a greater choice of colour over the Launch Edition, with the option of two-tone paint by picking your favourite paint colour on the body and choosing between diamond black or shadow grey on the roof. The body colour options range across solid, metallic or special metallic paints: glacier white, diamond black, shadow grey, ceramic grey and midnight blue. The Megane E-Tech electric comes as standard with 20-inch Enos alloy wheels and a gold F1 blade, a nine-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, smart rear-view mirror plus around view 3D camera system.
