Up and coming British racing driver Gus Burton kicked off his 2025 racing season in the prestigious Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, viewed in the sport as the international pinnacle of the Porsche one-make series.
Burton is one of only two British drivers competing in the series this season and is proud to be representing the UK on the international stage racing for Team Proton Huber Competition.
In 2021 Burton won the British GT4 Championship and has also competed and won multiple races in the Porsche Carrera Cup. He was appointed a member of the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) in 2023 and brings his proven track record to the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup this season, which will be a fresh challenge for the talented driver, who commented:
“I’m thrilled to be on the Supercup grid this year. The level of competition is incredibly high, but that’s what drives me. Imola was a great way to kick off the season, and there’s still work to do. I’m proud of the fight and excited for what’s ahead.”
The Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup is holding all of its eight rounds of the 2025 season as part of Formula 1 Grand Prix weekends at some the world’s most famous circuits that include Monaco, Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and Monza in Italy.
The opening round of the series took place at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, Italy on the weekend of 16th to 18th May, where Burton, starting 21st on the grid, showed his skill and determination by working his way through the field to finish 12th.
Round 2 was at Monaco over the weekend of 22nd to 25th May, where Burton had his best result to date, finishing seventh.
Round 3 last weekend, took the drivers to Barcelona, where Burton did not fair so well, finishing 24th.
There is now a break until the weekend of 27th to 29th June, when the teams and drivers head to Austria and the Red Bull Ring Spielberg circuit for a double header. They then make their way across to Belgum and the famous Spa-Francorchamps circuit over the weekend of 25th to 27th July for Round 5.
Round 6 is in Budapest, Hungary from 1st to 3rd August ahead of Round 7 at Zandvoort in The Netherlands on the weekend of 29th to 31st August. The final round takes the drivers to the iconic and historic Monza circuit in Italy over the weekend of 5th to 7th September where the 2025 championship will be decided.
