This year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed took place in the beautiful grounds of Goodwood House in Sussex earlier this month over the weekend of 11th to 14th July, offering another intoxicating weekend of unrestricted access to motorsport glamour and new car launches as cars and motorbikes of all shapes and sizes blasted their way up the hillclimb track.

The theme for this year’s event was ‘Horseless to Hybrid – Revolutions in Power’, which celebrated our love of motorsport, starting from the birth of organised competition 130 years ago, with the Paris-Rouen Trial of 1894. Since then, the quest for speed has gone hand-in-hand with developments in engines, propulsion and power. Thus the 2024 Festival of Speed celebrated many of the thrilling advances that have propelled us to where we are today, as well as taking a look at what new ideas may drive us into the future.

Our photographer Gary Harman was at Goodwood once again to capture all the action as well as meet with some of the legends of motorsport, so sit back and enjoy a selection of some of the supercars and racing cars blasting their way up the hillclimb he caught on camera as well as some of the exotic cars that were on display.

Festival of Speed is where Formula 1, endurance racing, WRC, MotoGP and other disciplines all come together in one place.

Legendary machinery from the world of motor racing was on display in the paddocks before being launched up the hillclimb and blasting their way round the Forest Rally Stage and tackling the Off-Road Arena.

For many of the people who visit Goodwood over the weekend, the attraction is the chance to get up close and personal with unrestricted access to many of the cars, such as the Pagani Huayra, Bugatti Bolide or Gordon Murray’s T.50 and the McLaren Solus.

Debuts this year included the new Porsche 911, BMW M5, BMW XM Label Red, BYD SEAL U DM-I, Defender OCTA, the new All-Electric Ford Capri (which looks nothing like the original), Honda Civic Type R, Jaecoo J7, Maserati M20, Pagani Epitome, Pagani Imola Roadster, RB17 and the Yangwang U8.

With new car launches and debuts alongside some of the world’s most exclusive sport and incredible road vehicles, as well as a selection of championship-winning race cars, there were also some well-known drivers who drove them to glory both past and present. For example, Oracle Red Bull Racing, who are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, showcased a number of their race winning cars on the Sunday along with former drivers Mark Webber, David Coulthard and Daniel Ricciardo as well as the team’s current driver line up of Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez. Fernando Alonso was also at Goodwood.

For those of you who missed it this year’s event, next year, Goodwood Festival of Speed will take place between 10th and 13th July 2025. For more information please visit: www.goodwood.com.
