Global leader in premium tyre manufacturing and sustainable mobility solutions Bridgestone, has partnered with Audi to develop custom-made, ultra-high-performance tyres specifically designed for the new Audi e-tron GT family. This collaboration reflects the continuation of Bridgestone’s long-standing relationship with Audi, as nearly 20% of the vehicles sold by Audi worldwide are equipped with Bridgestone tyres. Chosen as a trusted partner, Bridgestone was tasked with creating a tyre that aligns with Audi e-tron GT’s ethos of “pure performance without compromise.”
This has resulted in the Bridgestone Potenza Sport A, a premium tyre designed to maximise the high-performance capabilities of the fully electric Audi e-tron GT models. As a globally OE-homologated tyre, the Potenza Sport underwent Audi’s rigorous testing and was recognised for delivering top-tier performance, safety, and sustainability, qualities essential for Audi’s S and RS performance variants.
A key feature of the Bridgestone Potenza Sport is its sustainable construction. This tyre is Bridgestone’s first mass-produced model to incorporate 55% recycled and renewable materials, having achieved certification from the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS.
In addition to its sustainability credentials, the Potenza Sport A offers best-in-class energy efficiency, contributing to an extended battery range. The tyre has earned an EU label A grade in rolling resistance, enhancing the Audi e-tron GT’s ability to cover approximately 500 kilometres on a single charge. Furthermore, it provides outstanding safety with an A grade for wet grip performance, complementing the Audi e-tron GT’s precision steering and dynamic handling.
To meet the specific demands of the electric e-tron GT, Bridgestone developed a unique tread pattern, reinforcement technology and carcass design, optimising handling, performance and ride comfort. The Potenza Sport A integrates Bridgestone’s ENLITEN Technology, which is engineered to improve the tyre’s sustainability without sacrificing safety or performance. ENLITEN reduces environmental impact by lowering CO2 emissions, improving resource efficiency and utilising more recycled and renewable materials. The technology also addresses key requirements for electric vehicles, such as enhanced energy efficiency, superior control and reduced noise levels.
Bridgestone’s innovative blend of sustainability and high performance is further demonstrated by the Potenza Sport, marking another major step in the company’s ambition to use 100% sustainable materials by 2050. Developed in Europe, the Potenza Sport A will be available in sizes 265/35 R21 101XL Y (front) and 305/30 R21 104XL Y (rear), with production taking place at Bridgestone’s advanced facility near Rome. This state-of-the-art plant, certified by ISCC PLUS and ISO 50001 for energy efficiency, is powered entirely by renewable electricity, aligning with Bridgestone’s commitment to sustainability.
Through this partnership with Audi, Bridgestone continues to solidify its role as a leader in both performance tyre manufacturing and sustainable innovation, showcasing a tyre that not only boosts the performance of the Audi e-tron GT but also contributes to a greener, more sustainable future.
Steven De Bock, Vice President Original Equipment at Bridgestone EMEA, said:
“Through tyres such as the Bridgestone Potenza Sport A, we’re proud to be making mobility more sustainable, even for super high performing and powerful vehicles such as the new Audi e-tron GT.
